The headline in the TwinCities.com piece just about sums up how bad this is for the Golden Gophers:
Minnesota Wide Receiver Eric Decker Out For Year With Foot Injury
Gophers' Decker Will Miss Rest of Season; Sophomore With 0 Catches Will Replace Him.
That’s about it in a nutshell: the major offensive threat on Minnesota’s roster is out, taking his 758 yards receiving and 5 TDs with him. Decker has an injury to the arch in his left foot, something that sounds minor until you remember he has to make his living running around not on one, but both feet as a receiver, and that’s kind of what he’s trying to do here.
The Daily Gopher does not understate the case when they assess the gravity of this injury for the team’s fortunes as a whole:
Minnesota is now looking 5-7 or 4-8 directly in the face. The ball’s on your field, Brewster. The time is now.
No pressure, coach.
