The Falcons are looking for a bounce-back game, but have a tough opponent. The Falcoholic has the skinny.
Fantasy Scouting Report: Atlanta Falcons
QB Matt Ryan: Fresh off his shakiest performance of the season, Ryan is a mixed bag this week. On one hand, the Saints are going to make every effort to get at him throughout and throw him off, so managers need to be cognizant that he may be hurried from start to finish. On the other hand, the Falcons could be passing often to counter the Saints’ explosive offense, so two touchdowns and 200+ yards is an extremely reasonable total for Ryan. If your league doesn’t penalize interceptions, roll with him.
RB Michael Turner: Turner has been one of the most confusing players in fantasy football this season. The scoring is there, but the overall production is way down from last year. Obviously, if you’re in a PPR league, Turner’s a killer. Yet there is that scoring…
Lower your expectations for Turner and consider him a worthy flex play. He almost always scores, which is great for those leagues which emphasize that, but in your more yardage heavy leagues he needs to earn that playing time. Play according to your format.
WR Roddy White: He’s transformed into an excellent every week option. Last week was a slow one, and he still hauled in 50 yards and a touchdown, and he’ll absolutely post better numbers against the Saints. Get him in your lineup.
TE Tony Gonzalez: Again, an elite option because the Saints are going to struggle to cover him effectively. Consider him one of the top tight ends in the league this week.
RB Jason Snelling: Special mention because you may have read about him getting increased carries in the near future. Snelling missed practice on Thursday with an injury, but if you have Michael Turner it’s worth picking him on the cheap as a handcuff. If Turner continues to struggle, he may slice into his carries sooner than later.
