Rest Of The Season Fantasy Rankings

If you could redraft today, how would you pick’em? Where would Cedric Benson go? Or the Texans (Schaub, Johnson, Slaton and Daniels)?

What about disappointments like Matt Forte or Brandon Jacobs? Or young breakout receivers like Sidney Rice and Miles Austin? Or comeback players like Chad Ochocinco or Brett Favre?

These are rankings for the rest of the season - what we think players will do from here on out. And yes, we really like the Texans (and their schedule) from here on out.

Quarterback

  1. Peyton Manning
  2. Matt Schaub

  10. Tony Romo
  11. Brett Favre
  12. Matt Ryan
  13. Jay Cutler
  14. Donovan McNabb
  15. Carson Palmer
  16. Eli Manning
  17. Kyle Orton

  19. David Garrard
  20. Matt Cassel

  36. Daunte Culpepper
  37. Todd Collins
  38. Shaun Hill
  39. Matt Leinart
  40. Seneca Wallace
Comments: Peyton Manning and Matt Schaub both benefit from playing against the Jaguars and Titans' woeful pass defenses. The fact that the Texans' defense has a habit of letting opponents back into games also means Schaub will be in more shootouts down the stretch...Don't look now, but the Pats schedule is about to ease up and Tom Brady looks to be getting back into shape...The Ravens are a passing team nowadays. Value Joe Flacco accordingly...The difference between Jay Cutler and Kyle Orton (fantasy-wise) is fairly negligible. There's a clump of quarterbacks from the early to late teens very close in value...

Running Backs
  1. Adrian Peterson

  36. Felix Jones
  37. Correll Buckhalter
  38. Jamal Lewis
  39. Laurence Maroney
  40. Donald Brown
Comments: 2009 is officially the year the running back died, with so many teams employing backfield committees. After the first ten or so backs, the quality drops off precipitously...Don't be afraid to believe in Cedric Benson. He's very much for real...Steve Slaton finally scored in the red zone last week. Now if he can just stop fumbling, he could establish himself as a top-5 back...With Ahmad Bradshaw's broken foot raising more concerns for the Giants, look for Big Blue to lean on Brandon Jacobs more. Don't give up on him yet...Matt Forte owners, enjoy this week's matchup against the Browns, because after that the Bears' schedule gets murderous...Beanie Wells will be the guy in Arizona sooner rather than later. Once that happens, tasty matchups against Detroit and St. Louis beckon during the fantasy playoffs...Which Eagles running back will carry the load down the stretch isn't clear at this point. Even less clear: will it even matter, as the Eagles offensive lines continues to struggle moving people.

Wide Receivers
  1. Andre Johnson
  2. Reggie Wayne
  3. Larry Fitzgerald
  4. Randy Moss
  5. Vincent Jackson
  6. Chad Ochocinco
  7. Wes Welker
  8. Brandon Marshall
  9. Marques Colston
  10. Calvin Johnson
  11. Roddy White
  12. DeSean Jackson
  13. Hines Ward
  14. Sidney Rice
  15. Mike Sims-Walker
  16. Miles Austin
  17. Donald Driver
  18. Steve Smith (NYG)
  19. Anquan Boldin
  20. T.J. Housmandzadeh
  21. Santonio Holmes
  22. Greg Jennings
  23. Nate Burleson
  24. Derrick Mason
  25. Steve Smith (CAR)
  26. Devin Hester
  27. Braylon Edwards
  28. Santana Moss
  29. Hakeem Nicks
  30. Steve Breaston
  31. Jerricho Cotchery
  32. Roy Williams
  33. Mario Manningham
  34. Percy Harvin
  35. Austin Collie
  36. Mohammed Massaquoi
  37. Jeremy Maclin
  38. Johnny Knox
  39. Lee Evans
  40. Michael Crabtree
Comments: Don't worry about Andre Johnson or Reggie Wayne; they both should play this weekend and play well. Wes Welker is quietly averaging over 90 yards receiving a game. As Tom Brady has struggled with the deep ball, he's looked underneath for the reliable Welker...Roddy White owners should be concerned. Outside of his explosion against the Niners, he hasn't cracked 60 yards receiving in any game...Sidney Rice, Mike Sims-Walker and Miles Austin are a trio of young wideouts who are knocking on the top-ten door if they can keep producing anywhere near their recent levels...Has anyone seen Greg Jennings? The 2009 season is almost half over...Derrick Mason has always been a reliable 1,000 yard receiver, but this year he's adding touchdowns as well...Hakeem Nicks is rapidly establishing himself as the Giants' second receiving option....Michael Crabtree was surprisingly effective given his holdout and unfamiliarity with the offense.

Tight Ends
  1. Owen Daniels
  2. Dallas Clark
  3. Antonio Gates
  4. Tony Gonzalez
  5. Vernon Davis
  6. Jason Witten
  7. Heath Miller
  8. Brent Celek
  9. Greg Olsen
  10. Visanthe Shiancoe
  11. Jeremy Shockey
  12. John Carlson
  13. Tony Scheffler
  14. Zach Miller
  15. Todd Heap
  16. Fred Davis
  17. Benjamin Watson
  18. Dustin Keller
  19. Anthony Fasano
  20. Bo Scaife
Comments: Time to take the Texans seriously. Daniels has been the top tight end, and with the Texans rolling (and Andre Johnson healthy) look for the trend to continue...Jason Witten has been a disappointment this year. It's not all his fault though; the Cowboys' protection problems have meant WItten has had to stay in and pass-block more than usual...Despite poor numbers so far, Greg Olsen has received more red zone looks than any other tight end. The touchdowns - and yards - will come...Fred Davis looked good in relief of the injured Chris Cooley. Someone has to catch passes in the Skins' offense, and right now it looks like it could be Davis
