The Colts’ Peyton Manning is perhaps the craftiest veteran in the NFL, and as such, he’s capable of catching wind of the occasional defensive signal. Realizing this, the Seahawks are adopting a different system in preparation for Sunday’s game in Indianapolis. From Shutdown Corner:
Be Silent, Seahawks. Peyton Manning Can Sense Your Fear.
↵↵Instead of calling the defensive plays into the helmet of defensive captain Lofa Tatupu(notes), who would ordinarily call them out to everyone, Seattle’s defensive staff will give the play to Tatupu, who will signal his teammates.
↵↵What they fail to realize, though, is that Peyton doesn’t rely on his hearing at all. He looks past the line of scrimmage and sees a pitch-black darkness, save for eleven pulsating orbs of light. He senses their thoughts and fears, and adjusts accordingly. Good luck with the hand signals, though.
