The Dallas Cowboys were in control for 90% of this football game, so it was no surprise that after Brandon Marshall single-handedly gave the Broncos a 7-point lead, the Dallas offense woke up. And for all their struggles today, Tony Romo and the Cowboys were right there in the end, on the Denver 3-yard line with a chance to win it.
Dallas Falls Short in the Final Seconds: FINAL Den 17 Dal 10
Alas, after attacking Champ Bailey on both 3rd and 4th down, the Cowboys couldn’t connect for a game-tying touchdown, and turned it over to the upstart Broncos, who now move to 4-0, and are officially the biggest surprise of this young NFL season. As for the Cowboys, they fall to 2-2, and though nothing’s dire yet, you have to think that this offense has been exposed over this first month. Romo’s not good enough to carry the passing game, and Jason Witten, for all his virtues, isn’t going to threaten teams down the field.
You have to wonder: as Denver rode the crunch-time heroics of Brandon Marshall to a victory, would Terrell Owens have helped Dallas in that final, do-or-die red zone scenario?
