The Steelers jumped out to a 28-0 lead in the 3rd quarter, but The Chargers mounted a second half rally, including a recovered onside kick, but fell short in the end.

    Different half, same result. Ben Roethlisberger drove the Steelers down the field on an 8 play, 81 yard drive and capped it off with a six-yard TD pass to Heath Miller to make it 28-0.

    If the Chargers want to stay close tonight, they’re going to need to get that vaunted offense moving, because their defense has nothing to offer the cause. After Riivers and company gave the ball up on a quick three-and-out, the Steelers put together another methodical Steelersesque drive, all runs and short passes and an eventual screen pass carried into the end zone by Mewelde Moore. 14-0.

    San Diego: I Believe That’s German For ‘Easily Scored On’: Steelers 7, Chargers 0

    Welp, that didn’t take long: Pittsburgh drove easily down the field on their first drive of the game, led by a couple ho-hum Ben Roethlisberger completions and finished off by a hard-charging Rashard Mendenhall, who scored an easy rushing touchdown to put the Steelers up 7-0. If you’re Pittsburgh, that was about as good a start as you could ask for. If you’re San Diego, um, not so much. Football analysis!

    In the meantime, I’ll be over here stewing that I didn’t start Rashard Mendenhall. (What was I thinking?)
