Despite getting sacked eight times, Aaron Rodgers threw for 384 yards and two touchdowns. Still, it wasn’t enough to make up for Minnesota’s early fireworks. Brett Favre threw for 271 yards and three TDs in the win.

Acme Packing Company: Insert Upbeat Title Here

No silver linings for the Packer fans at Acme Packing Company. They watched their team get beat up by their hated rival. It doesn’t feel good.

Like any good supporter, they also noted the odd differentiation between penalties called (7 for 57 yards for Green Bay compared to 2 for 10 for Minnesota) while also noting a bevy of non-calls that seemed to go the Vikings way.

    Favre Emotional In Victory

He said all week that this wasn’t a vengeance game, that he didn’t come back to specifically play for the Vikings, the Packers’ arch rival, in order to get back at the team that let him go. He said he was going to treat it like any other game

No one believed him, of course. And the fact that Brett Favre was visibly emotional in his post-game interview with Michelle Tafoya won’t help sway folks either.

Pack Kicks Field Goal, Too Little, Too Late: Vikings 30, Packers 23

Aaron Rodgers did what he could, driving the Packers down the field once again in the 4th. The Packers got a field goal to cut the lead to seven and set up an onside kick. The kick was recovered by Minnesota and the Green Bay comeback was just too late.

Here Come The Packers: Vikings 30, Packers 20

Vikes got the ball again at midfield and were unable to do anything with it. Again, they punted and pinned the Pack deep in their territory. This time, however, Aaron Rodgers did good.In six plays Rodgers changed the complexion of the whole game, capped off with a 33-yard touchdown pass to Jordy Nelson to bring Green Bay within ten. The two-point conversion failed but the Packers are back within striking distance and the Vikings haven’t done much in the 4th.

Despite having no o-line support, Rodgers has put together a nice little Monday. 316 yards, two TDs and an interception. It’s no Favre #‘s but it’s pretty good.

Vikings Get Their “Safety Score”: Vikings 30, Packers 14

After the Vikings punted and the ball was downed at the one-yard line, you just knew nothing good could come of this for the Packers. And sure enough…

Jared Allen tackled Aaron Rodgers right on the goal line, Rodgers fumbled the ball at the one and the Vikings recovered. Then again, it looked like Rodgers was actually down in the endzone before the fumble. And so, in a weird twist, McCarthy challenged the call, ensuring that it was indeed called a safety, giving the Vikes two points and the ball. Then again, it was still better than giving the Vikes four downs at the one.

Vikes Can Put It Away Here

Looks like going for it on 4th down and falling short killed whatever momentum Green Bay had up until that point. The Packers offense has been officially running on fumes since. The offensive line has given up six sacks on Aaron Rodgers today and Green Bay can’t get out of it’s own way in the 4th quarter. With 11:03 remaining, The Minnesota Favres take over on their own 49 with the chance to put this game out of reach.

    Vikings’ Goal Line Defense Holds

The Packers drove 14 plays and 81 yards to the Minnesota 1-yard line. That’s when the Viking D took over. Keeping the Packers’ RBs out on 1st and 2nd down, they stuffed the short pass on third. The Packers decided to go for it, which probably speaks to how afraid they are of Brett at the moment, and Rodgers’ pass in the endzone fell incomplete. Vikings ball at their own one.

The Packers were luck to get a fumble on the drive back. It was a play that was reviewed by the refs and challenged by Packer coach Mike McCarthy. Oh and, yes, you did just hear Jon Gruden say “Mike McCarthy is one of the best challenge coachers of all-time.”

This Favre Fellow Having Breakout Game, Throws Another TD: Vikings 28, Packers 14

The Vikings start the second half the same way they ended the first…scoring a touchdown. It was slow-going at first but Favre opened up the Packer D with a 25-yard pass to Jeff Dugan and followed that up with a 31-yard strike to Bernard Berrian in the endzone to make it 28-14.

Favre is now 18-21 for 226 yards and 3 TDs. Keep this up and Colin Cowherd might spontaneously combust.
