Don’t Try to Take Miguel Cabrera’s Cell Phone While He’s Drunk

Miguel Cabrera

Word of advice to future husbands: coming home at 6 a.m. with a BAC of .260 and waking the kids because you’re yammering on your cell phone is not going to put you in good standing with the missus. Just ask Miguel Cabrera, because he pulled one of those early Saturday morning.
↵
↵His wife, Rosangel, wasn’t having any of that. She tried to snag the phone away from her soused spouse, which didn’t go so well, as both of them suffered minor injuries, including a scratch on his head that Cabrera initially tried to explain away as the result of a dog attack.
↵
↵That led Rosangel to ask Miguel to leave the house. He refused, so the police were so called. Lucky for him, and a Tigers team facing a one-game playoff for the division, no charges will be filed. Still, his off-field behavior is going to be much discussed should the Tigers fall to the Twins tomorrow. Cabrera is one for his last 14 at the plate. When a critical hitter for your team and your blood alcohol content bests your batting average in key games, you’re bound to have a lot more drinking time very soon.↵
