Well, the Mets were hamstrung by a number of factors this year, but Jose Reyes' hamstring was chief among the forces inhibiting success. Thanks to what seemed like perpetual turmoil in the clubhouse as well as a spate of injuries, of which Reyes' was the most notable, the season quickly devolved into farce for the Mets, as they became a running national joke. Not fun.
Mets’ Reyes Likely to Have Surgery on Hamstring
And while Reyes’ injury-plagued season likely still stings for Mets fans, at least he’s taking no chances as he sets about fixing it. From CBS Sports:
Mets shortstop Jose Reyes is likely headed for surgery to repair his torn right hamstring.
Reyes tried to come back after he was placed on the disabled list May 26 but felt discomfort while running during his rehabilitation work last Tuesday. An MRI showed a new tear.
Reyes batted .279 with two homers, 15 RBI and 11 steals in 36 games this season.
Let’s see... 36 games played... Divided by 162... Oof.
Jose Reyes played in 22.2% of New York’s game this season. Not exactly what you’d hope for out of your team’s superstar shortstop. For more on the Mets, check out SBN’s Amazin Avenue, and we’ll have more news on this as it emerges.
