Mountain West Connection has the audio clip so you can get a full understanding of what BYU Head Coach Bronco Mendenhall was saying at his presser.
BYU’s Bronco Mendenhall To Cougar Fans: Shut Up, Dummies
↵Mendenhall starts off saying the expectations are high, which means the fans want a good team (so far, so good). Then, he says that the fans are not sophisticated enough to understand what is going on during the game. (uh-oh). Then says “the normal person can easily criticize” (Danger...Danger Will Mendenhall...). Finally, there’s the money shot:
↵↵“The level of criticism usually matches the level of education.”
↵↵As MWC points out, you COULD read into it that he’s saying a high level of criticism means that person is smart, but I think we can all agree that’s not what he’s saying. He’s calling his own fans a collection of yelling morons.
↵Expect the caravan to the Las Vegas Bowl to be a little lighter this December.
