Pro Football Talk posted about this last night, but now the Fox affiliate in Dallas/Fort Worth has posted video which seems to confirm that Tony Romo had no idea it was 4th down on the last play of the game Sunday.

↵As you may recall, Romo threw the same slant to Sam Hurd on 3rd and 4th down from near the goal line in the final seconds of the Cowboys’ loss to the Broncos. Both were incomplete. The Cowboys have come under some fire for running the same unsuccessful play twice. But perhaps Romo threw it twice because he thought he had another down.
↵Here he is, signaling “3” for 3rd down to the officials after the Broncos ran off the field in celebration:

↵Seconds later, the officials (or someone) inform him that it was indeed 4th down and the game is over, after which Romo yells “fudge!,” or something along those lines.
↵But don’t let any of this stop you from believing the hype: Tony Romo is totally an elite QB. He just doesn’t have the results or numbers to prove it.
