The Patriots are staying tight-lipped about a possible return of Junior Seau to the team (shocking, I know), but this morning, Bill Belichick did actually offer a bit of news: the 40-year old linebacker had a team-administered physical.
Seau Had Physical Administered by Patriots
“He did have a physical. We haven’t done anything yet. Is it a possibility? Yes,” Belichick told WEEI.
Belichick was asked about Seau’s earlier contention that he only had six games in him this season.
“I don’t know about all that,” Belichick said. “If a player is playing he is playing whether it’s four games, six games, eight games, or 10 games. That’s what it is. I haven’t talked to Junior about that. I don’t really know anything about the four-game, six-game, 10-game thing.”
Earlier in the day, Belichick had given a tongue-in-cheek "no comment" regarding the Seau situation, referencing his recent dalliance as a rodeo clown.
Asked about whether the team was interested in Seau, Belichick said, “Well, I noticed he was doing some bull-riding or bull-stomping or bulls were stomping him or whatever it was. I’ll have to take a look at that workout and see how he did looked doing that.” [...]
As far as an evaluation, Belichick said, “I don’t know, we’ll have to look at that bull riding video to to see what that looked like.”
Vega followed up by asking if Seau might simply be applying for a “Sports Job” at Gillette.
Belichick said, “Maybe the Zamboni guy? Is he working on that too?”
Super Bowl winning coach: yes. Comedian: no.
