After watching Michael Turner back up LT all those years, NFL fans finally got a look at him as a feature back last year with his move to the Falcons. What a revelation – he turned in a brilliant statistical season and shot close to the top on fantasy boards everywhere. This year, the bloom is slightly off the rose. Tuner has 226 yards on 65 carries through three games. Only his 2 TDs keep him from going all the way into bust-land. Is it Turner, or is it the Falcons offensive line that’s failing? We checked in with The Falcoholic for more details:
Michael Turner Giving Fantasy Owners Heartburn
↵↵Somehow, though, I think we can’t lay this entirely on the feet of the offensive line. Having Jerious Norwood back to switch up the pace could be critical, and it’s probably time for the coaching staff to live up to their promise of getting him prominently involved. Turner has looked just a step slow getting to the hole, and while having more room to run would help out with that, he’s got to clear of the line of scrimmage a little faster. His more bruising style is well-accompanied by the threat of Norwood, and it’s fair to ask if he’s missed having him around. My hunch is yes.
↵↵The Falcons face a tough 49ers run-defense this week, I don’t think Turner will turn around his season just yet.
