LSU Fans Asked to Be on Best Behavior. No, They Mean it.

↵

LSU fans are encouraged to wear gold, show up early, enjoy the free concert from Cowboy Mouth, and not to be their usual, colorful selves during the pregame festivities in Baton Rouge.

↵

↵

LSU encourages fans to use good sportsmanship, no foul language and to create a positive atmosphere for families and young people attending the game, " said a statement from Herb Vincent, the associate vice chancellor for communications and senior associate athletic director.

↵

↵But foul language is part of the gameday atmosphere in Baton Rouge, a point Mr. Vincent obviously will not concede here. Fans are encouraged to be loud, but the fan noise—as intense as it is—won’t impact the game more than the players on the field. See Urban Meyer’s comments:

↵

↵

In 1992, Meyer recalled beating a mediocre LSU team when he visited as part of the Colorado State coaching staff.

↵

“It was pretty quiet that day, " Meyer said.

↵

↵Thanks for mentioning Curley Hallman, Urban. Now I’m going to be wearing twice as much unmentionable liquid on the way into the stadium.
