When I watched the end of the Bengals-Browns game last Sunday, I thought the game-winning kick by Cincy’s Shayne Graham was clearly wide right. You may recall that his field goal won the game in the final seconds of overtime. Had he missed it, the game would’ve ended in a tie. As it turns out, he very well may have missed the kick.
Should the Bengals’ Record Be 2-1-1?
↵Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan seems to think he did. And if you watch the replay, it’s pretty obvious that it was, indeed, wide right. Here’s Ryan’s very careful comments about it today, which were made — unprovoked — to the media:
↵↵“You can watch the tape,” Ryan said Friday. “I’m not saying anything, but man, maybe the posts were crooked. Look at it.”
↵“I don’t want to get fined,” Ryan said. “I pay enough money already on the house I don’t even live in California. I don’t want to make this a big story, but I was disappointed. Of course, I’m not expert. That’s why I’m saying maybe somebody else should look at it.”

That half a game could certainly affect what is shaping up to be a tight AFC North race. And for the Browns, that half game may have been their only hope to not finish 0-16.
↵/checks to make sure they don’t play the Redskins.
↵Yep. That was their only hope.
