Kris Letang’s Finger Gets in the Way of Scott Hartnell’s Teeth

The Penguins and Flyers don’t exactly exchange Christmas cards, but can’t we expect some sense of decorum? By that I mean can we expect that players won’t haul off and bite each other in the first month of the season?↵

↵In that scuffle in the video above, the Penguins are alleging that Philadelphia’s Scott Hartnell bit Kris Letang. You can see Letang make a run for it to be treated by doctors. After the game one of his fingers was heavily bandaged. What did Hartnell have to say about all of this?↵↵⇥Hartnell told reporters he did not bite Letang, but added that “a lot of stuff happens on the bottom of the pile. He had his hands in my face doing the face wash and we’re rolling around. I can’t say what happened.”↵↵↵You won’t be able to find a quote from Letang (at least as of this posting) where he overtly says “I was bitten by Hartnell.” His answers during postgame interviews were extremely vague. But let’s say he was bitten. As was pointed out on Puck Daddy, Jarkko Ruutu was suspended two games for biting Andrew Peters’ hand. If the NHL finds a similar incident took place, an equal punishment seems to be in order. ↵
