We mentioned Texans’ safety Bernard Pollard over the weekend, as he aired his complaints over the Kansas City coaching staff. And now, he’s at it again, reiterating his displeasure over Todd Haley’s method as KC head coach.
Todd Haley Needs To Work On His People Skills, Coaching Competence
↵To his credit, it’s not as if Pollard is going out of his way to talk about this stuff. It’s just, people are curious, as to why, exactly, the Chiefs cut a talented, young safety in the middle of the year.
↵As Pollard explains, there were philosophical differences. From Sports Radio Interviews:
↵I’m not lying when I say that it was told to me a coach is right when he curses you out. No, no, no, no. I’m going home to a wife. I’ve got a son and I’ve got a daughter on the way. You’re not going to talk to me whatever way you want to because I’m giving you nothing but respect. When I give you nothing but respect and I’m willing to learn everything that I can about the game of football to get this team better so that we can go further and do more things in the season, I can’t take that.↵Which leads a larger point, really. It’s okay to be a miserable tyrant as a head coach, because as long as you’re winning, you’ll be looked upon as a “fiery personality.” But if your team’s losing, and, like Haley, you’re a terrible coach, then it’s pretty difficult to inspire winning attitudes while you’re screaming obscenities and spewing spittle on the sidelines.
↵Would you rather lose 13 games rooting for a Raheem Morris-coached team...
↵
↵Or one with Todd Haley at the helm?
