Your Obligatory Veteran’s Day Sports Tie-In

Today is Veteran’s Day, and though Veteran’s Day lacks the same seasonal meaning (not to mention universal off-work-ness) as Memorial Day, we should all take a brief amount of time and reflect privately on what our veterans have done, and are doing, for us. It’s the least we can do, right?

↵And if you must have a sports-blogging-related tie-in to do so, fortunately the Internet has you covered. Read Chris Chase’s list of the 10 best athlete-veterans of all-time (can you name the only president on the list?), and then immediately go read this passage from former Marine-cum-football and TV blogger Matt Ufford’s Iraq War memoir. It’ll tie your stomach in knots and force you to reflect on the sacrifices we ask our soldiers to make ... AND you never have to leave the “sports blog” section of your bookmarks. I thought you might like that.
