Garnett Looks Good As Celtics Rout Jazz

For more on the Celtics and Jazz, check out CelticsBlog and SLC Dunk.

(Sports Network) - Kevin Garnett paced a balanced Boston attack with 18 points, and the Celtics never trailed in posting a 105-86 win over the Utah Jazz.

Rajon Rondo finished with 14 points and 11 assists for Boston, which put all five of its starters in double figures. Ray Allen had 15 points, Paul Pierce 13, and Kendrick Perkins contributed 10 points and eight rebounds.

Rasheed Wallace ended with 12 points and Marquis Daniels scored 10 for the Celtics, who posted their second straight win after their lone loss of the season, at home against Phoenix on Friday. Boston, which is 8-1, shot 53.2 percent from the field, including 7-of-19 from beyond the arc.

It was a woeful night for the Jazz, who failed to build on a 95-93 win at New York Monday night. They committed 21 turnovers, leading to 25 Boston points, and went 0-of-10 from three-point range.

Deron Williams had 13 points and seven rebounds for Utah, which also received 13 points from Ronnie Brewer and 12 from Andrei Kirilenko.

The Celtics shot 61 percent in the opening quarter, grabbing a 28-23 lead after 12 minutes. They continued to pull away in the second. Wallace’s three- pointer early on moved the margin to 36-27 and the difference widened to 54-44 at the half.

The game quickly turned into a rout as Boston started the third quarter on a big spurt, opening a 69-50 lead with 8:23 left following a Rondo layup on a pass from Garnett.

That advantage lifted to 22 after three quarters, as Rondo’s layup opened an 84-62 lead. The Celtics played their reserves for nearly the entire fourth quarter as the lead never dipped under 17 points.

Utah has lost seven of its last 10 at Boston...Carlos Boozer had 10 points for the Jazz, who received nine points and 13 boards from Paul Millsap...Williams left the court for a time in the second quarter to shake off a sore back problem.
