Oklahoma State Picks Off Texas Tech For The Win

Stillwater, OK (Sports Network) - Patrick Lavine’s 21-yard interception return for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference, as the 17th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys edged the Texas Tech Red Raiders, 24-17, in a hard-fought Big 12 battle at Boone Pickens Stadium.

Zac Robinson completed 9-of-21 passes for 90 yards and a touchdown for the Cowboys (8-2, 5-1 Big 12), who were coming off a 34-8 win over Iowa State last Saturday. Robinson rushed for 99 yards on 19 carries and also took a hard hit that knocked him out near the end of the game. Keith Toston had 76 yards and a score on 22 carries. Hubert Anyiam had three catches for 39 yards and a TD for Oklahoma State, which has won seven of its last eight outings.

“Obviously, it was an exciting game. It was quite a finish for a game that was kind of a tale of two halves. I’m really proud of our defense. I mentioned to them in the locker that I haven’t been around a group of guys that can rally around each other like they have,” said Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy.

Taylor Potts connected on 19-of-35 passes for 190 yards, a touchdown, and an interception for the Red Raiders (6-4, 3-3), who were coming off a 42-21 win over Kansas on October 31. Steven Sheffield completed 16-of-23 passes for 117 yards, a TD, and two interceptions for Texas Tech, which had won four of its previous five games.

Detron Lewis hauled in six passes for 75 yards. Edward Britton and Alex Torres each had a TD catch in defeat.
