Today’s NFL Slate Saving Best for Later

Ah, Sunday. The day of parity and closely matched games, rendered unto us by beneficent football gods to make up for the blowouts of a college football Saturday. Except for this Sunday’s early games, apparently. There is one game between winning teams in the early window today, with Pittsburgh and Cincinnati clashing for control of the AFC North. The rest is wretched refuse you should refuse. There are clear mismatches (New Orleans at St. Louis, Denver visiting Washington, Minnesota hosting Detroit) and bad games with bad teams (Buffalo-Tennessee, Tampa Bay-Miami), and matchups that have Wild Card implications, though it is basically understood that none of the teams involved will be around after Wild Card Weekend (Jags at Jets, Falcons at Panthers).
If you have Bengals-Steelers, rejoice and revel in Big Ben and Ochocinco and all that. If not, consider using the early afternoon to do yardwork or play Call of Duty or catch up on this week’s posts at this blog. After all, you’re going to need to save your time in front of the TV for the late games, which include Dallas-Green Bay, Philadelphia-San Diego, and Seattle-Arizona, and the night game, which has some guys you may have heard of named Manning and Brady.
Just don’t save your football gorging for Chiefs-Raiders. Please. I beg of you. We’ve seen that already, and it looks terrible.
