Sean Avery is at times the most controversial NHL player in the league. He says and does what he wants, whether its for the good of the team or not. His act wore thin with the Dallas Stars quickly and the team waived Avery after his “sloppy seconds” comments. The New York Rangers took another chance with Avery and he and the Blueshirts have been very happy together. That was until the Rangers hired John Tortorella. Tortorella is a hard nosed coaches where it is his way or the highway. So far this season, Sean Avery has not been heard from and not made any controversies on or off the ice. Craig Custance of the Sporting News has this to say about the situation:
Where Has Sean Avery Gone?

↵This isn’t a good thing for the Rangers. Or Avery. You don’t bring a guy like Avery into the mix to be invisible. There has to be a happy medium between the mouth who ran himself out of Dallas and the No. 16 non-factor we’re seeing with the Rangers.

↵The Rangers are holding tight in the fifth position in the conference but need a spark or something to help them out of the listless play they are in.
