John Wall’s Debut, NIT Season Tip-Off Headline Monday’s NCAA Action

Monday night's college basketball schedule features top point guard recruit John Wall making his debut for No. 4 Kentucky against Miami (Ohio). He missed Friday's 75-59 Wildcat win over Morehead State, punishment for accepting improper benefits from his one-time AAU coach. Over at SB Nation's Kentucky blog, A Sea of Blue, Friday's game served as an example of how important Wall can be to the 'Cats.

There is a big difference in Kentucky with John Wall, and without. Eric Bledsoe is a remarkable talent, and he had a really good game tonight, but here is the stat that you don’t want to see -- 4 assists and 7 turnovers. That is not a good line out of your point guard, no matter how many points he scores. If you’re unable to catch Wall’s debut this evening, you can follow along here on SB Nation, as we’ll have updated during and after the game.

The other big event of the evening is the start of the NIT Season Tip-Off, the only preseason tournament that features 16 teams. In this event, the winners of four on-campus regionals advance to the semifinals next week in New York City. No. 9 Duke and No. 12 UConn should make it through their regionals easily, but LSU and Arizona State, two teams that lost key players from last season’s NCAA squads, will have a harder time making it to the Big Apple. If LSU win tonight, they could face Western Kentucky--a team which has won at least one game in each of the last two NCAA Tournaments--in the regional final in Baton Rouge Tuesday evening.

While all four pairs of regional semis are tonight, only three of the eight contests will be televised. However, you can find coverage of all of them on SBN via the following links:
