Don Draper Designed The Court in St. Louis on Tuesday Night

↵↵Let’s play count the sponsors. I see eight on the floor last night, if you count the rotating spot at the scorer’s table. I tweeted about how hideous the floor was last night, but it really demands a second look.↵

↵↵That All-American inside-outside combination of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Bud Light is easily the worst juxtaposition of the bunch. (Vomits in own mouth just thinking about the two together.) If anything, given how cash-strapped teams are, I’m wondering if/when we’ll see more of this sort of logo saturation on the floor. ↵

↵↵Don Draper would nod approvingly at this court design in St. Louis.↵

↵↵Other thoughts in the hangover of yesterday’s hoops marathon:↵

↵↵-- If Memphis is hell bent on taking nothing but 3-pointers this season, might I suggest someone other than Elliot Williams take those shots? Perhaps Doneal Mack or Roburt Sallie? Williams had a shot to win it at the buzzer, but instead it wound up being one of his eight misses from 3-point range in a 57-55 win for the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks. Oh, and if that game didn’t remind you, I will: Memphis isn’t going away.↵

↵↵-- What I said about Memphis not going anywhere can also be applied to Gonzaga, which looked strong. Robert Sacre and Elias Harris give them a lot of skilled size, but they’ve got incredible depth at the post. Matt Bouldin could challenge from some fringe All-American love if he plays like that. Would’ve liked a better game from Demetri Goodson, who clanked an important free throw late in the game. They lost a close one at Michigan State.↵

↵

↵-- Does any team hide athleticism and talent better than Georgetown? That is not a Top 25 team. 19 points in the first half? Greg Monroe should've just come out and gotten the clock started on his pro career.↵

↵↵-- Tennesee won 124-49, and as they said on ESPN, the game wasn’t actually that close.↵

↵↵-- Nolan Smith looked good in Duke’s game, but let’s wait until he sees some tougher competition before we start singing too loudly about the greatness of this Duke backcourt.↵

↵↵-- Didn’t get to watch a ton of Arkanas-Louisville. What I saw was the competitive early part of the game that had Arkansas hanging with the Cardinals, not the part where they lost by 30. I wanted to see more from Rotnei Clarke following his 51-point game, but he was limited to just 16.↵

↵↵What was your highlight of the marathon?↵
