The Unique Properties of Jose Aldo’s Game

Luke Thomas at Bloody Elbow explains what makes Jose Aldo such a force in the sport:In my estimation, what makes Aldo such a terror isn’t just his athleticism, speed and well-roundedness (although they are obviously hugely important). Instead, it is his uncanny sharp, snap judgments made when reacting to attacking or moving opponents.

In this way he is much more like the MMA version of Roy Jones Jr. than Mike Tyson (the man most point to as his boxing mirror). In his prime Roy knew what you were going to do before you did it and was able to hit you four times and move so that you never got the chance to try.

I have a feeling we may be watching Aldo with that title for a very long time.
