If you’ve been watching Chase Utley play baseball this evening with a collection of people -- whether in real life or on the Internet -- you’ve likely heard Utley described as a beast, or a freak, or a baseball-hitting robot sent from the future to destroy our reality with feats of strength. Any of it works, really, and you may now add a new nickname to the list: Mr. October.
Chase Utley Is Mr. November
↵Utley’s home run in the seventh inning of tonight’s World Series Game 5 didn’t just help cement the Phillies’ lead. It tied Utley for the most home runs ever in a World Series (five), a record formerly held exclusively by the likes of Mr. Reginald Jackson. OK, so Mr. October is already taken. I propose Mr. November. It’s the nickname produced by equal parts skill and insane Major League Baseball postseason scheduling. It’s perfect!
