Flyers’ Simon Gagne Out 6-8 Weeks After Surgery

Per Philly.com:

Flyers left winger Simon Gagne will have hernia and abdominal surgery Tuesday and will miss six to eight weeks, general manger Paul Holmgren said.

Holmgren said the Flyers have no plans to recall any other players from the AHL Phantoms.

Gagne was diagnosed with a double hernia last week, but has delayed making a decision on his course of action until after seeing a number of specialists. After contemplating the merits of alternative methods to deal with the injury, he’s decided surgery was the best option.

After 34 goals and 74 points in 2008-09, Gagne has one goal and four assists in nine games this season.
