Washington quarterback Jake Locker is listed as questionable for Saturday’s game against UCLA after suffering a “deep thigh bruise” against Oregon over the weekend:
Washington QB Jake Locker Questionable For Saturday
Locker has been limited at practices since the loss and is experiencing bleeding and swelling that is significantly reducing his mobility.
That loss of mobility is playing into coach Steve Sarkisian’s decision on Locker playing against the Bruins.
“I don’t want to put a guy out there that’s just a sitting duck,” Sarkisian said.
But if you asked Locker, he would be behind center against UCLA. He told reporters: “I should be ready to go” against UCLA. If Locker is out, the offense will need to shift philosophies with a new quarterback:
If Locker is unable to play, Ronnie Fouch would step in with freshman Keith Price as the back-up. The change from Locker to Fouch would change the play-calling for Sarkisian, essentially eliminating the the possibility of the quarterback run.
