Start Them
Quarterbacks
Eli Manning: Eli looked like he was back on track against San Diego and now after the bye week his foot should be feeling pretty good. Atlanta’s pass defense is 28th in the league and have yet to really shut down a quarterback this year. Unless the weather is bad I see Manning having a very good game.
Matt Hasselbeck: The Seahawks won’t be able to run on Minnesota so they’ll need to pass. The Vikings should also be able to move the ball on Seattle which will keep Hasselbeck passing all game. The Vikings rank 25th in fantasy points given up to QB’s and they’ve played some real duds in Quinn, Stafford, Hill and Boller.
Running Backs
More Start/Sit: Eli Has A Good Matchup
Bernard Scott: He looked great in the preseason, but Cedric Benson went ahead and ran like a man possessed, but now Benson is hurting and probably won’t go against Oakland. Benson owners are sad about that, but if you picked up Scott you are pretty happy right now. Oakland has been horrid against the run. Scott didn’t have a great game in relief of Benson last week, but that was the #1 rushing defense in Pittsburgh. Things look a lot better against the 30th ranked defense in Oakland.
Pierre Thomas: Look for a bounce back game from Thomas this weekend against Tampa Bay. Last week was a trap game against St. Louis and the Rams actually came to play. The Saints should be ready to go this game and Pierre Thomas is still the main back. Get him in your lineup.
Wide Receivers
Kevin Walter: Walter has been getting more targets since Daniels went down, but now he gets a defense that will let him do something with those looks. Tennessee has been a bit better defensively as of late, but they are still having trouble against wide receivers. Look for Walter to have a solid game.
Lee Evans: The Bills are in shambles, but they get a very bad Jacksonville pass defense. Evans really is the best wide receiver on the Bills.
Sit Down
Quarterbacks
Jay Cutler: Will he throw five interceptions? No, but since this is a prime time evening game there is a good chance he’ll throw six. Cutler can put up big numbers even when he is throwing interceptions, but I believe the Eagles blitz happy defense is going to be tough for the poor decision making Cutler.
Joe Flacco: If the Ravens want to win they will have to run the ball and I think they want to win. Flacco has had three down games in a row and Indianapolis isn’t the team to get better against.
Running Backs
Ryan Grant: San Francisco is tough on running backs and Ryan Grant is up and down. They went into Minnesota and kept Adrian Peterson in check. I think they can do the same to Grant.
Jamaal Charles: I love Charles’ fantasy playoff matchups, but not this one. The Steelers are, as usual, monsters against the run. Even without Aaron Smith they are holding teams to under 70 yards on the ground. Bench Charles this week.
Wide Receivers
Michael Crabtree: The Packers pass defense came up big last week against Tony Romo and it won’t be any different this week against the passing stylings of Alex Smith. Crabtree is their number one wide receiver and will be taken out of contention.
Brandon Marshall: With Chris Simms probably taking over for Kyle Orton and the Chargers corners being pretty good I just don’t see a huge game from Marshall. It was looking like Orton had finally got on track with Marshall, but this injury will set him back a bit.
