In continuing with our coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics and Hockey, Mikka Kiprusoff has told the Finnish national team that unless he is going to start for the team, that he has no interest in playing for them.
Mikka Kiprusoff Tells Finland That He Will Only Play If He Starts
↵↵“We’ve been talking,” says Kiprusoff. “I told them that I’m ready to go. But like I said, there’s still many games to go (on the Flames schedule). If I’m healthy and I feel it’s all right -- I’m not too tired -- then I’m going to go . . . if they pick me. There’s lots of competition. A lot of good goalies. We’ll see.
↵↵The competition as Kiprusoff mentioned is numerous; Niklas Backstrom, Vesa Toskala, Pekka Rinne, Antti Niemi, Tuukka Rask, and Antero Nittimaki. While most of those goaltenders are riding the pine, there are still quality goaltenders that the Finns could use for the Olympics. Finland is going to have an uphill battle against the two favorites, Canada and Russia.
