When we talk about censoring, we aren’t talking about putting the game on a five second delay or bleeping out the occasional curse word. We are talking about curbing the amount of violence the viewer sees on the screen. Our Bruins blog has this to say about that issue:
Are Hockey Broadcasts Censoring Games?
↵↵I’m talking about a much more disturbing trend: TV is censoring your hockey games. If you don’t believe me, watch next time a scrum breaks out in from the net. The camera will immediately pan away to the crowd or the bench.
↵↵While I honestly cannot dispute that fact, it would make sense for a broadcaster to curb the amount of scrums and overall hitting that the viewer sees. Because they have to please the casual fan that would turn into the game right?
