Bill Parcells Drops $100K Gift on Legendary St. Anthony’s High School

As proof that we aren’t always negative, here’s a good story to take you into your Thanksgiving holiday. Bill Parcells has given St. Anthony’s High School in New Jersey a $100,000 gift as it faces a budget shortfall.↵↵The financial difficulties are part of an upcoming documentary, The Street Stops Here, which will air on PBS in March. The quote below comes via press release on Parcells’ donation:↵

↵↵⇥ Coach Bill Parcells is a New Jersey native and has many years’ experience with inner-city kids. He said “I get it. I’ve coached enough and seen enough to know how important a good, solid education is. I have a lot of respect for what the faculty and staff are doing at St. Anthony’s. I’m glad to help in whatever way I can.”↵↵↵Parcells came to find out about St. Anthony’s need through a friend who has a relationship with the school.↵

↵↵I’m not in Jersey, so I can hardly speak to what the school does for the community, but the hoops program in particular is one of the most storied in the U.S. Bob Hurley Sr. is about as revered as they come in coaching circles.↵

↵↵On current Division I rosters, St. Anthony’s is represented by Tyshawn Taylor (Kansas), Travon Woodall (Pitt), Dominic Cheeck (Villanova) and Mike Rosario (Rutgers). As far as past stars go, Terry Dehere (Seton Hall), Jerry Walker (Seton Hall), David Rivers (Notre Dame), Rodrick Rhodes (USC/Kentucky) and Roshown McLeod (Duke).↵
