JaMychal Green Ensures Alabama Upset Over No. 15 Michigan In Old Spice Classic

JaMychal Green had a thunderous dunk off of a missed layup with 5.4 seconds remaining and blocked a potential game-tying shot as time expired, as Alabama edged 15th-ranked Michigan, 68-66, in the third place game of the Old Spice Classic.

Green finished with 20 points and seven rebounds for the Crimson Tide (4-2), who got 12 points from Charvez Davis. Mikhail Torrance added 11 and eight assists in the victory.

Manny Harris totaled 26 points, 10 rebounds and five steals for the Wolverines (3-2), who have lost two straight. DeShawn Sims contributed 16 points and six boards in defeat.

Justin Knox sank 1-of-2 free throws to tie the score at 66 with 49.6 seconds remaining. A three-point bid from Harris was off the mark and Anthony Brock secured the defensive carom. Senario Hillman then missed a layup, but Green slammed the rebound to put Alabama on top.

Following a timeout, Green rejected Darius Morris’ shot to seal the win.

Michigan scored eight of the game’s first 10 points and led 28-15 after Harris made a pair at the foul line. The Crimson Tide drew within three when Davis knocked down a trey and Green followed with a layup, but two free throws by Morris gave the Wolverines a 34-29 advantage at the break.

Alabama kept the score close and eventually grabbed a 56-55 lead after Knox completed a three-point play with about six minutes remaining.

Tony Mitchell had nine points and five rebounds for Alabama…The Crimson Tide lead the all-time series, 2-1.
