Have you ever seen Boiler Room? If so, then you know there are ways to manipulate investments and make piles and piles of money. You may have reached this conclusion independent of Hollywood--say, by reading a newspaper--but I learned this from Boiler Room. I don’t how it happens, who does it, or where, but it does.
Spongetech, The Shady Company Sponsoring Every Team In Sports
↵Why is this relevant to sports? Because, according to Darren Rovell, a company called Spongetech “is now sponsoring at least 35 sports teams.” You may recognize them from your favorite team’s practice jerseys, or outfield wall. And they may well be crooked.
↵Our Bobcats blog, Rufus on Fire, has a nice piece on Spongetech, Charlotte’s newest sponsor. The company’s had three separate accounting firms quit in the past three months, and is currently under investigation by the SEC, so it’s definitely worth a look. Then again, who are we to judge their ethics?
↵As Ben Affleck says in Boiler Room, “anybody that tells you money’s the root of all evil, doesn’t have any. And best of all kids, I... am... liquid.” (And I... Have... No Idea why “being liquid” is supposed to be impressive.)
