Redskins Interested In Larry Johnson

In Sunday’s loss at Atlanta, Redskins running back Clinton Portis suffered a concussion and is already “doubtful” for this week (he also “does not remember the play on which he was hurt”). While the back-ups did a serviceable job (86 yards on 22 carries), Washington is still expected to sign a new running back. But who? If only there was a washed-up, malcontent veteran back who was recently cut by his team ...one that was expected to clear waivers, making him a free agent ...

↵Johnson, who leaves Kansas City after a drama-filled couple of weeks, turns 30 later this month. He wouldn’t be a long-term solution for the Redskins, but neither was Shaun Alexander, whom the Redskins signed last October when Ladell Betts was banged up.

↵Speaking to reporters today, Zorn did not rule out the possibility of the Redskins pursuing Johnson. He said the team has had internal discussions this morning and will continue to talk about the troubled running back.

↵So, Washington is set to replace one aging, disappointing RB with another aging, disappointing RB. Remember Redskins fans: only eight more games and then this season is all over.
