In Prison, Raiders Tickets Are the New Cigarettes

When Girls Gone Wild impresario Joe Francis was in a Nevada jail in 2007 and 2008, one of his producers bribed guards in order to sneak contraband to his employer in the clink. All this was revealed this week when the producer, Aaron Weinstein, pleaded guilty this week in a misdemeanor plea deal to testify against two Washoe County Sheriff’s Office employees who he consistently lavished with gifts. ↵↵Naturally, we wouldn’t be chiming in on this if there weren’t at least one tenuous sports angle: ↵
↵↵⇥Weinstein’s plea follows the conviction of Ralph Hawkins, a sheriff’s deputy who admitted taking $3200 and Oakland Raiders tickets from Weinstein in return for smuggling unauthorized food items (like sushi and barbecued chicken) to Francis. ↵↵↵See, I’m thinking the $3,200 paid for the sushi and chicken. The Raiders tickets maybe got him a napkin, which strikes me as a fair exchange, and one that has probably been made by many a Raider fan in the hoosegow. ↵
