Cursed Card? Tyson Griffin Off UFC 108 Due To Injury
The UFC lost an impressive lightweight bout for UFC 108 on Friday when Tyson Griffin had to withdraw from his fight with Jim Miller due to injury. Griffin’s manager, Tom Call, informed MMAWeekly.com of his fighter’s withdrawal Friday morning.
Though he wouldn’t disclose the nature of the injury, Call said, "Tyson sustained an injury that won’t allow him to prepare. It’s not serious. We believe it’s a short-term injury, but it wouldn’t allow him to be ready in time."
At various times in the matchmaking process bouts several signed or rumored fights have been canceled due to injury. Tyson Griffin joins Brock Lesnar (diverticulitis), Shane Carwin (MCL strain), Anderson Silva (elbow surgery), Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (staph infection), Gabriel Gonzaga (staph infection), and Carlos Condit (undisclosed injury) as fighters who have been unable to compete at UFC 108.
No word on who will replace Griffin against Jim Miller.
