UFC 107 Results: BJ Penn Retains Lightweight Title in Dominant Performance
The entire fight revolved around Penn landing counters whenever Sanchez attacked and Diego failing at takedown attempts. Throughout four and a half rounds there was not a second of the fight won by Sanchez. Finally in the fifth and final round the champion was able to land a head kick and a flurry of punches that opened a huge cut on the forehead of Diego and caused the doctor to call a halt to the bout.
Some may express disappointment that it took Penn until the fifth to finish but he engaged whenever Diego wasn’t simply trying to stay out of range and landed power shots all fight long. It was an incredibly impressive performance by BJ and cemented his status as the greatest lightweight fighter in the history of the sport.

It was an impressive showing by Florian who won every category of the fight; even taking down a man who, on paper, was a better wrestler.

The first round was all Struve as he got a takedown and worked a body triangle from Buentello’s back for the majority of the round. Buentello was able to defend against the choke but was defending the entire round.
The second was a different story as the fighters stood toe to toe throwing strikes before Stefan attempted a flying knee. In a moment that called back memories of Fedor v. Arlovski, Buentello countered the knee with an overhand right that put Struve down. Stefan was able to survive and by the end of the round the two men were standing and exchanging punches in a shootout.
