Virginia Tech 66, Penn State 64: Talor Battle Bests Malcolm Delaney On The Stat Sheet Only

December 12 - State College, PA (Sports Network) - Malcolm Delaney posted 27 points to lead the Virginia Tech Hokies to a 66-64 victory over the Penn State Nittany Lions in a non-conference tilt at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Jeff Allen registered a double-double in the win for Virginia Tech (8-1), finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Hokies.

Talor Battle poured in a game-high 32 points while grabbing nine rebounds to lead Penn State (6-4) in the losing effort, while David Jackson tallied 12 points to go with seven boards.

The opening frame ended in a 36-36 deadlock, despite the Hokies hitting 47.1 percent of their attempts from the floor compared to just 40.0 percent for Penn State.

In the second half, the Hokies held the Lions to a meager 28.6 percent from the field, and preserved the two-point win when a three-point attempt from Battle at the buzzer missed.

The Lions struggled at the foul line in the loss, converting just 13-of-22 attempts.
