San Diego State 63, Arizona 46: Big Second Half Propels Aztecs To Win
December 13 - San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Kawhi Leonard’s double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds led the way for San Diego State, as the Aztecs defeated the Arizona Wildcats, 63-46, in a non-league affair at the Aztec Bowl.
D.J. Gay added 12 points for SDSU (8-2), while Tyrone Shelley tallied nine points in the win.
Derrick Williams netted 13 points and collected nine caroms for Arizona (4-5), while Lamont Jones chipped in with 11 points in the losing effort.
San Diego State shot a mediocre 41.2 percent from the field in the first half, but still went into the break with a commanding, 33-20 advantage.
The Aztecs were much better in the second stanza, as they posted a 59.1 percent showing from the floor, en route to the 17-point win.
San Diego State held the Wildcats to a lackluster 35.6 percent shooting effort on the night, and also forced Arizona into 16 turnovers.
