Proof That Nearly-Decapitating Football Hits Happen At Any Level

If you missed Saturday’s Appalachian State-Montana semifinal game in the playoffs of the FCS (aka the NCAA football division that has has figured out that tricky “playoff” thing; you hear that, @insidetheBCS?!), then not only did you miss out on a great game (in the snow!), but also what might have been the hit of the year in college football, at any level.

↵That is Montana’s Keith Thompson, nearly removing Matt Cline’s head from his body. My high school coach would call that a “toes-to-Jesus-hit.” But I suppose hits like that should be expected in a stadium that sits at the mouth of HELLGATE CANYON (which is probably just a canyon, but still, it’s got a pretty awesome name).
