I was in London last year when the Saints played the Chargers at Wembley Stadium. And while there was a sizable crowd in the building, I can honestly tell you that no one I came across gave a crap.
Sorry L.A., The NFL Is All About London
↵I was in a sports bar that night while the Saints-Chargers game was going on. You know what was on every TV? Cricket. And not even league cricket, whatever league that might be. It was an exhibition match between the English team and a team from the Caribbean. A game that didn’t even count in a sport you and I wouldn’t even know how to figure out trumped every aspect of that regular-season, meaningful NFL game.
↵But then again, what do I know? Apparently this is a successful venture because the NFL is now promising that two games will be played in England next season. Teams are still TBD but I did enjoy learning that the head of NFL UK’s name is Alistair.
↵Just makes it all so much more classy.
