The 1.8 rating for The U, the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary about the rise of the Miami Hurricanes in the 1980s, was the highest ever for any ESPN documentary. (By contrast, The Greatest Game Ever pulled a 1.4 in December of 2008.) This clearly illustrates what people want in a story, which is passion, adventure, an outlaw spirit, and the occasional run-in with the law. Or, to state things more briefly: a story where Michael Irvin features prominently.
