Jaroslav Halek Can Neither Confirm Nor Deny He Wants Out Of Montreal

Jaroslav Halek has been with the Montreal Canadiens for four seasons and now it appears that he wants to become a number one goaltender somewhere else. Canadian sports channel, Rogers Sportsnet, is reporting today that Halak has asked Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey for a trade. Gainey has said that he even had talks with the Philadelphia Flyers but due to their latest moves, that seems more like an afterthought now.

↵Halak had this to say about the situation today:

↵↵“Maybe I did, maybe I didn’t,” Halak said. “It’s between me and my agent so I’m not going to say yes or no. I have no comment on this.”

↵↵Halak makes a smart move in not publicly asking out of Montreal because if it didn’t happen so quickly, he would be getting railed by the fans in Montreal. Halak last played for the Canadiens on Monday night in the loss to the Sabres and has a 2.91GAA and a .902 SV% this season.
