There isn’t much to say about adds and drops this week -- at this point in the fantasy season, you’re probably stuck with the team that got you here. Not all NFL teams are alike in Week 15 though -- some teams are fighting for their playoff lives while some teams are busy practicing writing Ndamukong Suh’s name on a small index card. Your fantasy glory may depend on knowing which players care and which ones are just killing time.
Week 15 Add/Drop: Who’s Fired Up?
FIRED UP
Pittsburgh - Even after a five game losing streak, the Steelers are only a game out of the playoffs. It won’t be an easy road with games against Green Bay, Baltimore and Miami but Big Ben Roethlisberger, Santonio Holmes and Rashard Mendenhall should be laying it all on the line starting this week. The defending league champs still have some pride. Count on them to bring it at least one more week.
New York Giants - The loss to the Eagles was crushing to their playoffs hopes, but you can’t dismiss a team that puts 38 points on that defense. They have very winnable games against Washington and Carolina before a huge clash with Minnesota to end the season. The Giants have a lot of weapons and should be cutting loose with all of them the next few weeks. Eli Manning, Steve Smith and Kevin Boss are all solid starts. Hakeem Nicks and Brandon Jacobs could work out as well.
Atlanta - Their playoff hopes are on life-support, but if they win all three remaining games (very possible against the Jets, Bills and Buccaneers) they’ll have the first back-to-back winning seasons in franchise history. If nothing else, that should give them a little extra motivation. Roddy White is still a solid start.
DEFLATED
Tennessee - They had a good run but there was no way to make up that 0-6 start. Now the team has to figure out what to do at quarterback (VY or no VY?) and how to bolster the receiving corps. It’s going to hit home that 2009 was a lost season for the franchise. Finishing out the year against Miami and San Diego won’t make things easier. You’ll start Chris Johnson no matter what, but guys like Kenny Britt and Vince Young are risky choices. Expect the Titans to fold up shop right away.
Chicago - You could make the argument this team collapsed weeks ago. Averaging only 19 points a game, the Bears look listless and beaten. Upcoming games against Baltimore and Minnesota should administer additional beatings and I’m not sure they’ll even beat the Lions in Week 17. Any Bears you have on your fantasy team should be relegated to the bench right away, if they aren’t already.
