18 Bowls In 20 Days: One Fan’s Gameplan

Meet Peter Marhoefer, a Nebraska alumnus who’s taken to calling himself “Mr. Touchdown USA” and who’s attempting a feat of postseason fandom I’d sell a kidney to pull off myself: attending 18 bowl games in 20 days (incredibly annoying embedded music warning).

↵Starting in Albuquerque with the New Mexico Bowl on December 19 and culminating with the title game in Pasadena on January 7, Marhoefer will travel over 20,000 miles to see college football’s best and brightest (or luckiest) square off, including his own Huskers in the Holiday Bowl against Arizona (one of the more interesting postseason matchups we’ll see this year). Notable omissions include the Sugar and Rose Bowls, in favor of the Fiesta and Orange (the former I can get behind in favor of seeing the mid-majors’ clash of the titans, but Georgia Tech and Iowa? Seriously?), and the International Bowl. Not wanting to drive to Canada in January is understandable, sir, but expect a sternly worded letter from Shani Davis just the same.
