The Washington Redskins sent out a press release confirming the hiring of Bruce Allen as the team’s new Vice President of Football Operations. Allen, the son of legendary Redskins coach George Allen, replaces Vinny Cerrato.

Bruce Allen was the GM in Tampa Bay for four seasons, and his father, George, was the head coach of the Redskins in the 70’s.
This could also be a sign that the Skins intend to hire Jon Gruden as their next head coach. Allen and Gruden worked together in Tampa, and Dan Snyder is rumored to have strong interest in Gruden.
