In addition to the other problems the Cowboys have in December, now they’re trying to deal with their kicker issues.
Nick Folk’s fifth straight game with a missed field goal cost him his unquestioned status as the kicker for the Dallas Cowboys. It probably won’t cost him his job, though, at least not this week.
Dallas K Nick Folk Might Be On The Way Out
The Cowboys are making Folk split kicks in practice with kickoff specialist David Buehler this week, but Buehler’s inexperience and his awful start to this competition on Tuesday makes this more of a change to Folk’s routine that coaches hope will get him to snap out of his slump.
Maybe, but you think Dallas (and Folk) would have made any required changes after he missed field goals in two or three straight games. Now, after he shanked one for five games straight, now they’re trying to shake things up? Things seem to be more serious than just shaking things up. But the Cowboys still aren’t talking about a new kicker...
“It’s not like you just go out there and grab people,” [Coach Wade] Phillips said.
Actually Coach, it’s exactly like you just go out there and grab people. There are more than a few experienced kickers available and waiting for a phone call. The Falcons just picked up Matt Bryant and he’s already 3 for 3 in field goal attempts.
Nick Folk has to be considered a risky kicker at this point. Even if he keeps his job, he keeps missing field goals. That’s a fantasy killer.
