Good news for Texas fans: kick returner D.J. Monroe, who was charged with a DWI in November, has managed to have the charge dismissed. It’s unclear whether Monroe’s suspension will be lifted in time for the BCS Championship against Alabama on January 7th, but Monroe sounds optimistic.
Texas’ D.J. Monroe Cleared Of DWI Charges, May Play In BCS Championship
Monroe pleaded no contest to a lesser charge of obstructing a passageway as part of an agreement. He received deferred adjudication involving one year of probation and 24 hours of community service, Roark said.
“I think he’s very happy that it’s over and with the result,” Roark said in a phone interview. “He’s looking forward to hopefully helping the ‘Horns win a national championship.”
Be sure to check back with our Texas blog, Burnt Orange Nation, which will doubtless have plenty to say regarding Monroe’s potential impact on the championship game.
