Wake Forest 67, N.C. State 59: Al-Farouq Aminu Leads The Way For The Deacs

December 20 - Winston-Salem, NC (Sports Network) - Al-Farouq Aminu registered a double- double with 18 points and 13 rebounds, as the Wake Forest Demon Deacons defeated the NC State Wolfpack, 67-59, in ACC play at Lawrence Joel Coliseum.

Aminu made good on 7-of-11 shots from the floor, although he did account for seven of the team’s 16 turnovers. Ishmael Smith and C.J. Harris both turned in 10 points for WF (8-2, 1-0 ACC), which stretched its winning streak to four games.

Javier Gonzalez paced the Wolfpack (8-2, 0-1) in defeat with 18 points and eight boards, while Tracy Smith notched a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Scott Wood also had 11 points, as NC State’s three-game win streak was stopped.

WF dropped in 51.7 percent of its attempts from the floor in the opening half and took a 35-26 lead to the intermission.

The Deacons held NC State to just a 33.3 percent shooting effort from the floor in the second half, as they secured the eight-point win.

WF had its way down low, winning the battle on the boards, 48-40, and outscoring NC State in the paint, 40-24, on the night.
